Spidex Boost

Phytoseiulus persimilis
Predatory mites

Use Spidex Boost for:

  • Two spotted spider mites.

Packaging

  • Box with 100 or 250 climate-resistant sachets; each sachet contains 100 predatory mites.

When to use Spidex Boost?

Use Spidex Boost for biological pest control of the two spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae). Spidex Boost works well on all the life cycle stages of the two-spotted spider mite but the predator prefers younger stages. Use Spidex Boost preventatively and at the first sign of pests.

How does Spidex Boost work?

Phytoseiulus persimilis feeds on all stages of spider mites, but has a preference for eggs. The predatory mites pierce the eggs and consume the contents. Adult Phytoseiulus persimilis also attacks adult spider mites but the smaller instars only feed on smaller prey in the early stages of development. The larvae do not eat. The predatory mite can only survive on two spotted spider mites (Tetranychus spp.). Unlike Koppert slow-release products (sachets), Spidex Boost does not contain a rearing system which produces several generations of predatory mites over time.

Application of Spidex Boost

  • Use sachets as soon as possible after receipt.
  • Hang sachets up in sheltered locations in the crop (no direct sunlight).
  • Handle sachets only by the cardboard strip at the top; predatory mites are easily damaged.
  • Important: Ensure that you create a sufficiently large exit hole for the mites prior to placing the sachets in the crop (a small hole or cut can be made in the upper portion of the sachet, close to the cardboard hook).

Optimal working conditions for Spidex Boost

Relative humidity should be above 75% and the temperature above 20°C/68°F for at least a few hours of the day. Phytoseiulus persimilis does not enter diapause.

Handling

Failure to do so can have a negative impact on the product’s quality. If you must store Spidex Boost, please follow the instructions below. Koppert Canada Limited is not liable for any loss of quality if the product is stored for a longer period and/or under conditions other than those recommended here.

  • Storage after receipt: 1-2 days.
